What is uncertain
Read off the same rows as above. Nothing here is added that the entry does not itself record.
- Thin evidence: Fat loss (fasted) (grade C).
- Studies disagree: Erectile dysfunction (mixed agreement).
- Caution with MAOIs: Hypertensive-crisis risk — do not combine.
- Caution with ADHD stimulants: Additive cardiovascular strain and anxiety.
Interactions
Documented pairings with supplements and medicines. A medicine on this list is a conversation for whoever prescribes it.

The evidence in words
What it is
Yohimbine is an alkaloid from Pausinystalia yohimbe, an alpha-2 adrenergic antagonist used for fat loss and erectile dysfunction.
How it works
Blocking alpha-2 receptors increases fat mobilization (especially in 'stubborn' regions) and raises sympathetic tone — which also causes its side effects.
What the evidence shows
It modestly increases fat loss when taken fasted (insulin blunts it) and has real erectile-dysfunction evidence. But anxiety, palpitations, and blood-pressure elevation are common and dose-limiting, and it interacts with many drugs.
Safety & interactions
Anxiogenic, raises heart rate and blood pressure; risky with anxiety disorders, hypertension, and MAOIs/stimulants. maoi — Hypertensive-crisis risk — do not combine. adhd-stimulants — Additive cardiovascular strain and anxiety.
Bottom line
Works for fasted fat loss and ED, but the anxiety and cardiovascular effects make it a poor fit for many. Start low, avoid with stimulants or if anxious/hypertensive.
