The evidence in words
Safety profile
Safe but frequently gas-producing; poorly tolerated in IBS.
Interactions to respect
No major interactions are on record for Inulin / FOS (Prebiotics) at typical doses, but tell your clinician about everything you take.
What Inulin / FOS (Prebiotics) is
Inulin and fructooligosaccharides are prebiotic fibers (from chicory, onions, etc.) that selectively feed beneficial gut bacteria.
The honest bottom line
Genuine prebiotic action, but the bloating is real and it's the wrong fiber for FODMAP-sensitive guts. Start low or choose psyllium instead.
