What is known

Each outcome with its grade (how strong the evidence is, A to D), the size of the effect where the entry records one, and how often studies agree.

What is uncertain

Read off the same rows as above. Nothing here is added that the entry does not itself record.

  • Thin evidence: Memory / cognition (grade D).

Interactions

The evidence in words

What it is

Pramiracetam is a fat-soluble racetam, more potent by weight than piracetam, used off-label for memory and focus.

How it works

It enhances high-affinity choline uptake in the hippocampus and modulates glutamatergic signaling; a strong choline supply is usually recommended alongside.

What the evidence shows

A handful of small, older studies (including in traumatic brain injury and age-related memory decline) reported cognitive benefits, but modern, well-controlled trials in healthy people are essentially absent. Promising anecdotally, unproven rigorously.

Safety & interactions

Generally tolerated (headache — often choline-responsive); long-term data limited; unapproved as a drug in most countries. Alpha-GPC — Racetams work better with a choline source; reduces headaches.

Bottom line

A potent racetam with old, limited positive data and little modern evidence. Experimental; pair with choline if used.
